In version 5 Advanced you can fly anywhere, anytime, in the lower 48 without a network. All the necessary imagery and terrain is stored on the Thumb Drive and goes where it goes. You can, of course, also Plan and PreFly without a connection.
In Version 5 both Advanced and Primary you can Flight Plan with an internet connection on the ground, then PreFly once. The imagery and terrain will be cached on the local drive of that machine. You can then go fly anytime and the imagery…

Hello,
Getting 5.0 out was a major accomplishment and I think it is a breakthrough product which will be very popular. However, I was hoping that you would have released a version that has higher terrain resolution. Squeezing it all down to a few gigabytes is perhaps too much compression. I would have been happier with a higher resolution version that I could place on my 128 gig solid state drive. I understand there are distribution issues with this much data, but there are 64 GB USB…

It’s all about the data.
5.0 operates standalone , without any internet connectivity. That means all the sat. imagery and elevation data are local. The source data devolves into tens of millions of files and many terabytes of data. Once that’s been created it needs to get reprocessed and shrunk enough to work on a tablet. The goal is the elevation data match the resolution of the imagery, with the threshhold target resolution for Symbolic Flight 5.0 being 1 meter.
Resolving…
